On Tuesdays INTRA is buzzing with Karen Verma’s popular glass classes, with intricate fused glass, copper foiling, stained glass and mosaic pieces being created over a series of weeks or months by her students.
Karen’s large glass kiln has a permanent home in INTRA’s large workspace and is fired up each week with fascinating new work. Many of her students have been attending these adult education courses for a number of years and are accomplishing some very impressive work. One beautiful piece created recently was a floral clock, the result of months of work and countless tiny and carefully shaped glass fragments.
New students are welcomed too and supported by this friendly group as they learn to cut, grind and prepare their artworks for the kiln under Karen’s expert eye.
Short courses are also occasionally offered at INTRA, and at Karen’s studio in Strood. Take a look at her GlassMania website for more images and information.
