Help to shape our Scrapstore for Medway

Scrapstore materials on a shelf, ready for collection

Zigzag Scrapstore CIC at Intra Arts

We’ve been stashing scrap materials like squirrels and building up to opening an exciting scrapstore for Medway in our basement, and we’re now expecting to fully launch in November 2024, with some access before that for newsletter subscribers. Please share the news with anyone who might be interested in a big basement full of crazy creative potential! The scheme brings low-cost fun and crafts to all, whilst stopping useful waste (aka treasure) from heading to landfill.

Zigzag Scrapstore is now a separate Community Interest Company (CIC), and has it’s own website, and Instagram @zigzag_scrapstore please take a look and follow.

In July 2024 we gave people a taste of what’s to come by running a test opening during Medway Open Studios & Arts Festival, with a chance to buy a £5 bags of creative materials.

Zigzag Scrapstore Newsletter

Be the first to know when we launch, share membership prices, and send invites to free activities, please sign up to the Zigzag Scrapstore Newsletter.

Scrapstore Survey

There’s still time to fill in our Scrapstore Survey. This year we’ve been asking people to help us shape the new scheme by answering questions on how you would use the service. We would really value your feedback via our survey, to help us make decisions on aspects of running the service. You can also register to volunteer with Zigzag Scrapstore via the survey.

Donations

People and businesses have kindly been donating surplus materials and unwanted art supplies such as drawing and painting supplies, beads, packaging and tools. If you have unwanted craft materials, paper, fabric etc. or surplus items from your home or work that could be re-used in creative ways or for play activities, please get in touch with Zigzag Scrapstore:

office@zigzagscrapstore.co.uk

In general the things accepted are components of creative, DIY or play activities. If you have completed craft projects, clothing etc. it’s more likely to be a good fit for a charity shop. Items that can display and store scrap materials also gratefully received. To see examples, please visit the Zigzag Scrapstore donations guide.
