We had a great time at the Swap, Pimp & Wear event in June, and from what you told us it seems like everyone else did too! As a follow up to our taster sessions pimping up the swaps, we’re running some longer classes this month, each run by the organisers of Swap, Pimp & Wear.
We’re planning to run a similar swap in the Autumn, so don’t throw out those old jumpers and coats! There are photos from the June event on our Facebook page and we’ll add more as we get them.
Workshops
Embelishing Clothes with Frances Cowper Holzhausen £15
Sun 26 July, 1pm – 4pm
An opportunity to revive your clothes, be creative, have fun and learn. Mend everything from moth holes to tears on clothes in creative ways, incorporate appliquéd elements, or add interest to clothes that are feeling unloved with beading, sequins or new buttons. Bring along old clothes and we’ll supply scraps of interesting fabrics and many other embellishments to spruce them up.

Printing and Embroidery on Clothes with Xtina Lamb & Zara Carpenter, £15
Sun 2 August, 1pm – 4pm
Add new fun to old clothes by printing and embroidering motifs onto them. With dozens of stencil motifs to print with in your choice of colours you can create totally unique items of clothing. Maybe a line of swallows flying around the hem of your skirt or a heart over your heart. We’ll also show you simple embroidery stitches to try out, maybe chain stitch a motif or a message onto the back of a jacket. It’s very easy and highly addictive!
Sorry – this class has been cancelled
Clothes Alterations with Alison Blackburn, £15
Mon 27 July, 1pm – 4pm
Alterations and much more – bring clothes you would like to fit better, shorten or re-work. You could learn how to change the length sleeves, remove cuffs, or whatever your clothes need to turn them into favourites rather than lurkers at the back of the wardrobe.

Making New Clothing from Old with Alison Blackburn, £15
Sat 8 August, 1pm – 4pm

And we have more classes that would be great for pimping up clothes, including some from Unravel & Unwind making Fimo beads, crochet or dressmaking; with Medway Fine Printmakers you can learn how to make your own thermofax printing screens; and The Skiving Scholar’s wonderful silver clay jewellery workshops have some amazing themes coming up.
